Wilmington offers a wonderful mix of history, culture, and southern charm. Whether you’re taking in the river views, visiting museums, or simply strolling down the charming streets, there’s something for everyone in this historic gem of a city.

Historic downtown Wilmington is anchored by The Cape Fear River which is bustling with antique shops, boutiques and stores, great restaurants and vibrant nightlife. The Riverwalk, which recently won “America’s Best Riverfront,” features a 1.75-mile boardwalk for exercise and dog-walking, taking in the scenery and enjoying views of the Battleship North Carolina.

Stretching over 230 blocks, Wilmington’s downtown historic district is lined with cobblestone streets and much of the area is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. You’ll fall in love with the neoclassical architecture of the city’s stunning, well-preserved antebellum homes, many of which are now B&Bs. Preservation efforts remain an important part of the community’s mission. Notable buildings include the Bellamy Mansion (a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture) and the Burgwin-Wright House (an 18th-century residence that provides insights into the city’s colonial history.)
