Thousands of people relocate to the Southport every year and with them, they bring experience, talents, finances, ideas and for some, this new lifestyle allows for free time. While boating, golf and time at the beach are high on the list of activities, some take the opportunity to dive into their life long hobbies such as painting, sculpting and photography.

We are lucky to have met some of these “local artists” and they are now part of our Carolinas Connect Realty family. When you come into our office at 1427 N. Howe Street, the walls are decorated with art on consignment from a variety of artists. From oil paintings on canvas, photographs, metal sculpting and pottery, the color, style and warmth artwork adds to a space is undeniable.

You may recognize some of the artist names as friends and neighbors, from seeing their work displayed during one of the Gallery Walks held in Southport on the first Friday of each month or on display at Franklin Square Art Gallery and Howe Outrageous. Each month different Galleries are featured and they offer wine and appetizers while you are browsing. To learn more about upcoming First Friday Gallery Walks you can visit the Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce website.

Most of the artwork on display in the Carolinas Connect Realty office is “coastal themed” or of local, historic landmarks. It makes perfect sense that new home owners may want artwork to decorate their new coastal homes.
